Sad day on this section of Foxwood Drive. There is not a nearby family on the street who did not know Helen as a quiet, sensitive and slightly eccentric kindly soul. As her adjacent neighbor, we shared much with her... including bird seed for her feeder, the weeds she called plants, occasional help with her car and the mint she enjoyed in her tea.
Helen was known for her patience as a piano teacher; she did her best with our son and many of the kids on the street and did not complain over any child's lack of talent. Drive along Foxwood on a summer day with windows open and the sounds of tortured piano scales permeated the street.
We will miss those sounds from Helen's house and the generous lady who shared with us for so many years.

Mrs. Kavalkovitch gave me and so many others the gift of a love for music. I think of her often when I sit down to play the piano. We were incorrigible as her child students but she was patient and kind. I miss her.

Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother. As you know we have been neighbors of your family for almost 50 years...your parents were wonderful people. Your mom a beautiful, creative person..a talented artist...the creator of the fox on the Foxwood sign you couldn't miss every time you drove into Foxwood. Helen was Ezra's and Matt's first piano teacher. Her love for life was evident in her gentleness and warmth expressed through her music, her art, for her music students and even her pets. Helen was a talented, humble, beautiful person who will always hold a place in our hearts. With deepest sympathy for your loss. The Mihalcin family
