Munang Nanji Obituary

Pa Munang Dasi Nanji was born January 20, 1952, in Mbemi, Cameroon. He was the firstborn child of the late Lydia Ijang Nanji and Samson Nanji. He was a brother to Grace Tamufor, Windeley Nanji, Joshua, Christopher, the late Meek Nanji, John and Deborah Nanji.

Munang loved playing soccer growing up but everyone knew his real passion was dancing. No one could out-dance Munang. He would go so low to the ground and stay there longer than anyone else on the dance floor. Munang attended Presbyterian Primary School. Mbemi later attended Secondary School at Joseph Merrick Baptist College Ndu then he moved on to nursing school at Government Nursing School in Bamenda.

At a very young age Munang met the love of his life Sylvia Enjoh Tagyen and got married on April 1, 1975. Every time you saw Munang you saw Sylvia, they were inseparable. In 1977, Munang had his first son, Ewane Tebah Nanji. He was born in Nkambe along with Munang's second son, Fon Anange Nanji born in 1979. In 1979 Munang decided to move to The United States of America to attend college at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia. In his 2nd year of college he brought his wife to America with him. He attended the University for 4 years and graduated in 1983. Munang graduated with a Degree in Nuclear Medicine. In 1984 Munang moved to Pittsburgh, PA and brought his 2 sons and his brother Windeley to America. Munang started working in Ohio at Trinity Medical Center; he would drive every morning from Pittsburgh to Ohio for work. He worked there for over 30 years. In 1985, Munang had his son Richard Ndakwah Nanji and his last child & only daughter, Ngum Mah Nanji was born in 1986.

The Family moved to a small neighborhood called Churchill in 1992 and they lived there for 30 years. Munang had 7 grandchildren: Seta Nanji, Enjoh Nanji, Azah Nanji, Fon Nanji, Munang Nanji, Skylynne Nfor, and Succues Nfor. He was all about Family, "family holds the key to your heart" is one of his favorite sayings. Munang was the key to his family. He gave his all to make sure his family had a good life. Munang loved helping and supporting his family. Dozens of family members have lived with him over the years including his nieces, Ngum Tagyen and Akwi Tagyen, and his nephews, Clinton Nanji, Scott Nanji, Dasi Nanji, and many more. Stephaine Ezekoye is a very important person in Munang's life as well. She is his wife's best friend and has been a very good aunt to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He wrote down his whole life in a notebook. Every day he would get up and write down what he did that day "l. Wake up, 2. Pray, 3. Make my bed, 4. Brush my teeth, 5. Take a shower, 6. Check the stock market" he did that every day for years. He wrote so much he had a whole stack of notebooks that he had written in over the years next to his desk. He loved to travel with his family. They went everywhere together. He has traveled to Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, Aruba, France, and more. Munang loved to photograph all of his vacations on his camera. His camera was very important to him. He brought it on every vacation and carried it the whole time. Munang was able to go on all these trips because he was very good with his money and was always investing it. If you knew Munang, you knew he loved investing in stocks. He'd check the stock market every morning; it was a daily routine for him. Another thing he invested in was property. He loved the house that he owned and so did everyone in the family. Everyone loved to go to 826. Munang and Sylvia never got a break. The family was in and out of their house every day. Munang took care of that house for 30 years. He was always  cleaning even at 70. He wouldn't even let people walk around without socks. Munang loved that house. It was the will of God for him to pass in it. God knew he lived a good life and it was his time to come home. He will be missed dearly.
