Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by family. Survived by her loving husband Joe of 56 years; a son Jeff; a brother Roland (Cheryl); and nieces and nephews. Born in 1938, daughter of Marietta & Orlando Finelli, she was raised in Highland Park. Carole attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy, and went on to earn bachelor and master degrees in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh. Carole was the Director of Pharmacy at Magee-Womens Hospital, a position and title she held with distinction for over 38 years. She was active in professional pharmaceutical associations, often being the first pioneering woman in what was once a male-dominated profession. Before and especially after retirement, Carole was a world traveler. She visited all 7 continents and saw sights such as penguins in Antarctica, the ruins of Machu Picchu, Tuscan hill towns, the beaches of Costa Rica, and even celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in Japan! In her younger years Carole enjoyed cooking in her kitchen and entertaining guests. She was happiest spending time with her family and friends. Known for elegant hospitality, Carole was eager to open her home to guests. Always making a phone call, sending e-mail, or making food for someone, Carole was a vibrant personality who was full of outgoing energy, intellect, and concern for others. In retirement Carole was an active volunteer at St. Maurice Church, she delivered meals on wheels, and was a longtime Rotarian who cherished her time with the Oakland Rotary Club. Carole had friends all over the country and world who she kept in touch with. Whereas Carole was always thinking about others, please make donations to the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, 2821 Sarah St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. Family and friends will be welcomed at Wolfe Memorial, LLC, located at 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh PA 15221, on Monday, August 15 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM.
