After an impressive fight with cancer, Gloria succumbed June 4, 2017 at her home in Murrysville, yet best known within her long-term residency as a Forest Hills “native” and community contributor. Unequivocally devoted to her faith, Saint Maurice church, family, and her four-decade employment with Rite Aid & its predecessors; universally and inarguably perceived as a modern Saint. A friend to more than she realized, a selfless & humble natural mentor. A closeted musician with an unusual gift for vocal and instrumental grasp, replicating “perfect pitch” and intoxicating “play-by-ear” interpretations through organ, accordion, and guitar — without ever reading a note. A truly matchless mother to Paul (Veronica), Michele (Keith Luznar), Lisa (Jeff Hnath), and the late Vincent Wersing; grandmother to Heather (Chad Cordial), Tina, Manny, Nickie, Joe, & Jacob; daughter of the late Lucia & Ellery Panaia; sister of Cecilia Panaia and the late Josephine, Vincent, & Ellery Panaia; aunt to many; and keen Follower of Christ and his principles. Sadly preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her son, Vince. Her appreciation and enthusiasm for life succeeded through her darkest hours. Her presence will be missed and irreplaceable, yet through this void we rejoice in the love, recognitions, empathy, and tailored inspirations she will forever instill into us and our infinite kin to come.
