Sambuco, Scott P. (Scooter)

We will remember you in our hearts with laughter and smiles.  Scott (“Scooter”) Sambuco of Edgewood, a longtime regional actor, choreographer and educator, passed away on Friday, August 12th, after a 13 year courageous battle with cancer.  He was 51. He is survived by his beloved mother, Mary Merlino Sambuco and his father, the late Frank F. Sambuco of Wilkins; and brothers, the late Michael F. Sambuco,  Mark A. Sambuco of Wilkinsburg, Joseph L. (Frankie) Sambuco of Monroeville, Frank F. (Lynne) Sambuco II of Haymarket , VA; and a sister Michelle (ED) Kaufmann, of Madison, CT.  He was the loving and proud Uncle of Stephanie (husband Tom), Samantha, Tiffany, Ryan, Alexis, Frankie and great nephew Connor.  He also loved his beautiful cat Angel. Scott was a graduate of Woodland Hills (Churchill) high School 1983 and held a B.A. in Dance from Point Park University 2006. He was a member of the Actors’ Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States.

As an actor, singer, dancer and choreographer for over 30 years, his talent, energy and humor have touched so many people.  Scott felt privileged to be able to live his dream of performing, as well as instructing young actors.  When he wasn’t acting in or choreographing a show, he taught including work with CLO, PMT and Centers for the Musically Talented, as well as a number of summer performing arts camps.

He always looked forward and loved his 16 years performing in CLO’s “A Musical Christmas Carol.  He started wearing his Santa Claus Hat at the beginning of December and wore it every day until the day after Christmas.

Scott was so excited and realized his dream of performing at Kennywood Amusement Park in 1984 with the musical act, “Razzmatazz”, and from there was invited to perform at Conley’s Inn dinner theater in Monroeville, where he continued to work for many years.  His resume included Pittsburgh Public Theater, The Theatre Factory of Trafford, Houston Theatre Under the Stars, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, The Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre in MA, Carousel Dinner Theater in Ohio, Stages Theatre St. Louis, Norwegian Cruise Lines, The Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre in Jupiter, FL, The West Virginia Public Theatre, as well as a European tour with a Leonard Bernstein revue. We will now look up and see you dancing with the stars.  You are one singular sensation.  Much love and peace.

Family and Friends received Wolfe Memorial, Inc, Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, PA, 412-731-5001, Thursday, August 25th, 2-5:30 PM, with a blessing service at 5:30 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Caring Center, 4117 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15224 or to the Animal Rescue League, 6620 Hamilton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15206.
