KAITLYN ALICE KEARNS
“PRINCESS KAIT”
Born on May 26, 1994, passed into God's loving arms on September 28, 2016. Kaitlyn was the beloved daughter of Kelly and Ron Thompson and loving stepdaughter of Holly (Holla) Tumulty; grandparents, Mark and Gerri Kearns, Ernie and Barb Salarno, Mark and Joann Marimonte; great- grandparents, Ralph and Coralee Cranmer; preceded in death by grandmother, Eileen Thompson. She was big sister to Dylan and Madilyn Thompson; also sister to Marc, Mychael, Cole, and Mazzy; niece of Tim (Kelli) Kearns and Cary (Jason) DiBiase; cousin to Tommy, Sarah, Rachel and Anthony; loving Godparents, Tom (Nancy) Pusateri; loving friend, Patricia Schaefer who held a special place in Kaitlyn's life.
Kaitlyn had so many dedicated friends who loved her and remained loyal and true to her; too many to list in our grief that we would not want to miss but you all are forever in our lives and hearts. Kaitlyn was a 2012 graduate of Woodland Hills High School and a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. She was an active member and coach of the Studio G dance Studio. Kaitlyn was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority (Epsilon Gamma chapter) of Western Carolina University, and a Chemistry (premed) student at the University of Pittsburgh. She was a hardworking employee of the "Burgatory" Restaurant Chain in The Pittsburgh area. Kait "was but little and she be Fierce" yet she could not overcome the tragic outcome of a senseless car crash on February 14, 2016. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Pittsburgh EMS squad, the UPMC/ Mercy ICU, Brain Trauma Research Unit, and the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh for their care, compassion and heroic efforts in Kaitlyn's brain Trauma care and rehabilitation. A private memorial service will be arranged by WOLFE FUNERAL HOME of Forest Hills with no visitation followed by a celebration of Kaitlyn's life for all that loved Kait to attend at Grandview Golf Course from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, located at 1000 Clubhouse Drive, Braddock, PA 15104. The family requests that Memorial donations be sent to S&T Bank in Kaitlyn's trust for outstanding medical expenses, The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh; CORE, or MADD  (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). The family also requests that you contact your State Legislators for more funding and support towards Long Term rehabilitation and designated facilities so desperately needed for the growing population of young brain trauma victims.
